Prague Castle

Gala Dinner - Wednesday, October 15

The conference Gala Dinner will be held at the Prague Castle, the most important monument in the capital city. Prague Castle has, for more than a thousand years, been the symbol of the state of Bohemia. Its beginnings go back to the last quarter of the 9th century. A Romanesque castle founded by the first Christian Czech Prince Borivoj, became the main seat of this ruling dynasty. The growth of the state of Bohemia was directed from here, and the history of Prague Castle is related to this. Founded after 880 the castle became the seat of the monarchs when Vladislav II won the right to a hereditary royal crown in 1158. The castle was further expanded during the reign of Charles IV in the 14th century when it became the imperial residence. The last general reconstruction of the castle took the form of Rococo and Neo-Classical styles /1753-1775/.

Dinner will be served in the most representative hall at Prague Castle - the Spanish Hall. Built in 1604 and later refurbished in Pseudo-Baroque style, this Hall was originally intended for the display of old statuary collected by Rudolph II. Later the hall was used for ceremonial court occasions and today it is the scene of important state events, concerts and social occasions. The castle complex is nowadays the seat of the president of the Czech Republic. Smoking is not allowed.

Round-trip transportation will be provided from the Hilton Prague Hotel.
